Included in his analysis are important projects by Philip Johnson, Cesar Pelli, Peter Eisenman, Michael Graves, Thomas Beeby, Stanley Tigerman, Helmut Jahn, Ricardo Bofill, and Massimo Seolari, to name a few. Paolo Portoghesi was born in Rome in 1931. He is an outspoken - and highly regarded - critic of architectural and urban projects both in Italy and abroad. Previously Professor of Architectural History and Dean of Architecture at the Polytechnic of Milan, and presently Professor of Architecture at the University of Rome, he was also the coordinator of the Architectural Section of the 1981 Venice Biennale. He has recently been appointed President of the Venice Biennale.
